Del Castillo's Smooth Sounds in McAllen

Winners of the “Best Austin Band of the Year” award at the 2002-2003 Austin Music Awards, Del Castillo gained additional fame for their appearance on the movie soundtrack for director Robert Rodriguez’ “ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO”. Del Castillo brothers, Rick and Mark del Castillo, Alex “El Lobo” Ruiz, Mike Zeoli, Albert “El Beto Bert” Besteiro, and Rick “The Rev” Holeman complete the band line-up that creates the award-winning Latin sounds of Del Castillo. The unique fusing of old world gitano and new world flamenco with rock & blues is what makes Del Castillo's music so exceptionally different.

Del Castillo

Rolling Stone calls Del Castillo “tumbling brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars” with “eruptions of technique and taste (that) conjure images of Eddie Van Halen fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gipsy Kings)." As a result of their signature, non-traditional sound, Del Castillo’s music can be heard throughout various clubs, radio stations, festivals, and stages nationwide. Del Castillo has toured across the country playing with acts such as Styx, Los Lonely Boys, Ozomatli, Don Henley, Los Lobos, and Willie Nelson. They have performed at three of Willie Nelson’s 4th Of July Picnics, and at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. Del Castillo has also made numerous national and local TV appearances.

Don't miss Del Castillo at McAllen's RGV Harley-Davidson on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 8:30 pm.
