The McAllen International Motorplex, formerly known as the Rio Grande Speedway, will start off a new racing season under new management at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.
After being closed throughout 2011, the track is now open for stock car racing.
Classes include limited modified, pure stock and Thunders. The purse for the limited modified will pay $400 to win, if there are 14 or more cars, and $100 to the winners of pure stock and Thunders.
Pit gate opens at 5:30 p.m. and the spectator gate opens at 6 p.m.
Admission costs $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 12 to 17, seniors ages 55 and older and free for children 11 and younger. First responders and active military will be admitted for free, and will receive half-price admission for their significant other.
Races are scheduled for every other week throughout the year.
